FOSSIL GOES SMART

A few weeks ago, Fossil revealed its plans to introduce 300 new watches throughout 2017, and just recently, photos have emerged showing some of these watches in greater detail. The new wearables from Fossil and their associated brands Misfit, Diesel, Emporio Armani and Skagen offer a mix of hybrid analogs and other watches running Android Wear 2.0. Fossil's hybrid pieces offer traditional designs with features commonly found in modern smartwatches such as activity tracking, sleep monitoring and support for phone notifications. Asides from those specs, Fossil's hybrid pieces have another thing in common: they come with a standard, replaceable coin-cell battery. Essentially, you just have to worry about downloading Fossil's companion app to keep track of your data. Naturally, Fossil has pieces for both men and women, so it shouldn't be too hard to find a model you may be interested in. Let's take a look at some of them.

Skagen Jorn Connected

The Jorn Connected has all the same features as Skagen's Hagen hybrid smartwatch, but it's priced lower at $175. And you get a nice leather strap to go with it.

Fossil Q Accomplice

If Skagen's models aren't doing it for you, Fossil has the Q Accomplice. This stainless steel hybrid watch is $175, same price as the Jorn Connected, and it's available now.

Fossil Q Activist

Personally, I find the Fossil Q Activist much sleeker than the Accomplice. Like its sibling though, this hybrid smartwatch also features three physical buttons, including a dial that lets you tweak the time -- as traditional watches do. The Fossil Q Activist starts at $155 and will be available later this year.

Fossil Q Venture

The Fossil Q Venture, like Misfit's Vapor, is one of the watches are powered by Android Wear 2.0. Unfortunately, Fossil didn't have a working demo of the smartwatch, but I'm a big fan of its shiny strap and circular touchscreen. No word on availability yet, but we do know the Q Venture is set to be priced starting at $255.

Fossil Q Explorist

Fossil wasn't exaggerating when it said it would have 300 smartwatches for you to choose from. Enter the Q Explorist, yet another Android Wear 2.0 device with a round display. And if you don't like this particular face color or the strap, don't worry, as there are black, silver and gold options, too. The Q Explorist will also start at $255, and it's expected to ship later this year.

Misfit Vapor

We have a feeling the Misfit Vapor will be one of Fossil's most popular smartwatches. It's only $199, for starters, and Android Wear 2.0 looks gorgeous running on the big, bright round display. The only bad news is that it won't be available until "late" summer, but it's definitely worth waiting for.
